Pants full of hot water.
A lab in Texas built them. Thin tubes run through the cloth. A small pump sends warm water round the loop.
Then the team mailed the things out to older adults and let them get on with it.
Each one ran the heat at home, alone. And there was no coach on the clock to keep them honest. Every last session got done, which almost never happens in a trial.
Eight weeks on, the numbers read like sport.

Heat is a load.
Your skin warms and blood rushes out to meet it. So the heart picks up pace. Blood then runs faster along the vessel wall, and that force is the point.
Cells in the wall read that flow. They answer with more nitric oxide, the gas that tells a vessel to open wide. A hard walk pulls the same lever … so does a hot bath.

// The Facts
Nineteen adults took part, mean age 67. Half wore the hot pants, half wore a cool pair as a fake. Water ran at 51°C in the tubes, which held the skin near 40°C. After eight weeks the heat group logged a lower top number. Their leg artery also opened wider on demand. And neither gain showed up in the fake group.

You will never find those pants in a shop. But the tub in your house pulls the same lever.

THE HOT SOAK
Oregon ran the bath version years back. Twenty sedentary adults sat in water held at 40.5°C. Each soak lasted an hour, 4 or 5 times a week, for 8 weeks. Then the lab scored how well an artery opens on demand.
And that score nearly doubled. Wave speed through the aorta fell as well, which is the mark of a softer pipe. The paper puts both gains on par with a block of training … in people who did none.

Run it hot: the trials sat near 40°C, or 104°F. |
Read the water: a cheap bath thermometer beats a guess by a mile. |
Sit chest deep: arms under, head out, shoulders loose. |
Begin at 20 minutes: build toward 40 across a month. |
Log 4 or 5 a week: both trials held that dose for 8 weeks. |
Rise with care: sip water, cool off, then dress. |
Legs work too: the Texas kit heated from the waist down. |
Treat the heat as a load, since that is what it is. Get out if your head swims. Anyone with a heart or pressure script should clear this with a doctor first.

Dex pays north of $20,000 a year for the journal feeds that hedge funds read. Most heat papers die at the first gate here, since a fake arm is the price of entry. Fifteen made it through a pooled review, and the top number came off by about 4 mmHg.
He has been at 40°C for three weeks. Twenty minutes felt like a slog at the start.
By week two, thirty felt short.
A sauna box runs six grand … your tub runs the price of hot water.
